In het Dahlgren Arboretum, te midden van een collectie bloeiende houtachtige planten, bevindt zich een sculpturale installatie van Elise El Yousfi. Vier kinetische sculpturen, met elementen die meebewegen op de wind, evoceren vormen die tegelijk doen denken aan planten, straatlantaarns, baby rammelaars of folkloristische instrumenten. De stalen kralen – afkomstig uit Marokko, waar het ouderlijk huis van haar vader zich bevindt – zijn bevestigd aan metalen armen en produceren geluid. Voor El Yousfi echoot dit geluid de ervaring van het horen van een vreemde taal: een abstractie die ontstaat wanneer spraak zich onttrekt aan betekenis.
