In parallel to the solo exhibition Les abeilles et les fleurs indociles at Annie Gentils Gallery, at Publiek Park, Lise Duclaux is presenting a performance that unfolds as a walk. The walk begins at LLS Paleis and leads to Albert Park. Meandering the city streets, the artist directs the visitor's focus toward the vegetation that thrives even in concrete surroundings. The artist explores the idea that specific plants might have domesticated humans, reversing the usual notion of humans being the ones who domesticate their fellow species. The performance takes place on Saturday, September 16. It starts at 15:00 at LLS Paleis (Paleisstraat 140), arriving at Annie Gentils Galerie (Peter Benoitstraat 40) at 16:30, and ending at the Music Kiosk in Albertpark at 18:00.
Lise Duclaux (1970, FR/BE) is a visual artist based in Brussels who creates works in drawing, writing, gardening, typographic composition, performance and photography. She meddles with the ways of being, seeing and understanding what surrounds us. The choice of the living is her raw material, she cultivates and looks at life in all simplicity and applies herself to seize its poetic and precarious dynamism. Lise Duclaux draws attention to the things that escape our gaze due to our habitual way of thinking, which she aims to disrupt through her work. To re-enchant the world, she equips herself with science and poetry. She confounds the ordinary by making it mysterious and strange once again. Through a conversation of gazes, she attempts to involve spectators in taking responsibility for the questions that animate them: our social environment, life, space and time, repetition or even the possibility of evolving or metamorphosing oneself.

Parallel aan de solotentoonstelling Les abeilles et les fleurs indociles in Annie Gentils Gallery, presenteert Lise Duclaux voor Publiek Park een performance die zich ontvouwt als een wandeling. De wandeling begint bij LLS Paleis en eindigt in Albert Park. De kunstenaar dwaalt door de straten van de stad en richt de aandacht van de bezoeker op de vegetatie die zelfs in een betonnen omgeving goed gedijt. De kunstenaar onderzoekt het idee dat specifieke planten de mens gedomesticeerd zouden kunnen hebben, en draait daarmee het gebruikelijke idee om dat mensen degenen zijn die hun soortgenoten domesticeren. De performance vindt plaats op zaterdag 16 september. De voorstelling begint om 15:00 uur bij LLS Paleis (Paleisstraat 140), komt om 16:30 uur aan bij Annie Gentils Gallery (Peter Benoitstraat 40) en eindigt om 18:00 uur bij de Muziekkiosk in Albertpark.
